Olivia was in the 2014 exhibition Dia de los Muertos at the Institute of Texan Cultures as Sensación Inesperada, She was partially inspired by a phrase my abuela used while she told me a story about one of her ex-husbands– that she got so mad at him it was "como una araña estaba en mi corazón (like there was a spider in my heart)." In this painting I enjoy the contrast of that phrase's high emotion with the serenity that Olivia exudes.
