Created for an exhibition centered around the anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, the drawing was inspired by the phrase "We didn't cross the border, the border crossed us." The line redrawn in the sand morphs into the Rio Grande, splitting families and identities. The wall at the top is the more recent and even more visible scar added to the line, but the figure is confidently blazing right through it. In the center is a printout of the last page of the treaty containing all the signatures accompanied by their wax seals, so I included my own wax seal at the bottom, not necessarily in support of the treaty, but rather in recognition of the disruption it has caused.
